Area: Kitakata City

Recommended Time: Year-round

In the third year of the Karoku era (1227), the high disciple of Hōnen, Ryūkan Risshi, founded the temple, and the founder was his disciple, Jitsuseibō Shōnin. The main patron was the lord of the time, Sato Jūrō Yoshiyoshi, who served Minamoto no Yoritomo.
The current buildings were constructed after the Keichō earthquake, with the first lord of the Aizu domain, Hoshina Masayuki, and his successors, Masakane and Masayoshi (Shōshin), serving as major patrons, resulting in a group of buildings and statues that embody the original spirit of the Aizu people.
