Ouchi-juku

Located in the mountains of Shimogo Town, "Ouchi-juku" was a bustling post town on the Aizu Nishi Kaido during the Edo period.
Traditional thatched-roof houses line the street, and in 1981 it was designated as an Important Traditional Building Preservation District by the national government.
Along the highway, there are many shops, including a farmhouse restaurant where you can taste the famous Takato soba and souvenir shops selling Japanese crafts.
