The main building of the former Fukushima Normal School was designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan in June 1977. It is said to have preservation value as a representative Western-style building from the Meiji era, featuring excellent architecture reminiscent of the Rokumeikan.
The main building of the former Fukushima Normal School was damaged in the Fukushima Prefecture earthquakes in February 2021 and March 2022, and is currently undergoing preservation repairs (disaster recovery work). Tours of the restoration work are also available
