Homare Shuzou, where the rich nature of Kitakata and dedication to sake brewing come together. In 2015, it won the top title of 'World's Best' at the world's largest wine competition (IWC) in the sake category, competing against 876 brands. The key to sake brewing is the underground water 'Kitakata Famous Water' that springs from the Iide Mountain range. This soft water brings out a versatile and mellow flavor.
On the premises, a vast pond-style Japanese garden that borrows the scenery of the four seasons in Oku-Aizu spreads out.
At the direct sales office overlooking the garden, you can taste over 10 varieties at all times, but the biggest attraction is the 'brewery exclusive sake' and 'fresh unpasteurized sake' that are not available in general distribution.
