Yonezawa City (よねざわし) is located at the southernmost tip of Yamagata Prefecture, a dignified castle town blessed with history, food culture, and nature.
It is known as a castle town associated with the Warring States general Uesugi Kenshin and Uesugi Yozan, with many historical spots such as "Uesugi Shrine" and "Uesugi Family Mausoleum," where the scent of culture lingers.
It is a famous place in Yamagata that can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons, with abundant hot springs, snowy landscapes, and traditional events.

In recent years, it has gained nationwide fame under the name "Yonezawa Beef."

A shrine dedicated to the Warring States general "Uesugi Kenshin."
It is also popular as a cherry blossom viewing spot, and the "Uesugi Festival" is held in spring.
 Within the grounds, there is a treasure hall called "Keishoden (けいしょうでん)" where items related to the Uesugi family are displayed.

Toko Sake Brewery

The sake brewery museum "Toko no Sakagura" is located just a few minutes' walk from Kojima Sohonten, and is one of the largest sake brewery museums in Tohoku. Founded in 1597 during the Azuchi-Momoyama period in Yonezawa, it continues to this day as a sake brewery.
Inside the museum, it feels like a sake brewery from the Meiji era. A space with a deep atmosphere as if you have traveled back in time, where you can enjoy tasting and shopping for Toko's sake at the directly managed store.
 

Nature and Hot Springs

Shirabu Onsen (しらぶおんせん)

Shirabu Onsen (しらぶおんせん)

A famous hot spring with a history of over 700 years.
There are three inns: "Toya Ryokan," "Nakaya Bekkan Fudokaku," and "Yutaki no Yado Nishi-yado."
The official name is Shirabu Takayu Onsen.
Since ancient times, it has been counted as one of the three great hot springs of Oshu along with Shinobu Takayu in Fukushima and Mogami Takayu (Zao Onsen) and has been popular with the saying 'If you stay at all three hot springs, you will live for 100 years.'
